Japanese samurai wore black lacquered armour not to intimidate - but to disappear into their purpose. The imperial guards of the Forbidden City wore black so completely that their presence became the protection itself. The Maasai warrior, the Celtic craftsman, the Aboriginal elder marking country in the hardest material available - none of them chose black for show. They chose it because it held something.

There is a confidence specific to black that no other finish carries. It doesn't catch the light the way silver does. It doesn't carry the warmth of gold.
